Job description


Well known university based in the South of the UK is seeking to recruit a Solution Architect on a contract basis to start as soon as possible on a 3-6 months basis.

The ideal Solution Architect will have broad experience around Microsoft Technologies and strong expertise around systems integration.

Key duties and responsibilities -

Collaborate with stakeholders, including staff from student, teaching, academic and professional services, end-user representatives, and IT Services colleagues.

Define solution goals, develop business and non-functional requirements, formulate initial solution proposals, and complete comprehensive solution designs.

Evaluate the IT implications, technical feasibility, risks, costs, and resource needs associated with different solution alternatives. This involves leveraging expertise in industry best practices, IT strategy, architectural principles, security and data policies, and considering capabilities and constraints while aligning with users' fundamental requirements.

Research market offerings, undertake product evaluation, and coordinate the engagement of suppliers and consultancy organisations.

Design, document, promote and initiate the implementation of the IT aspects of the solution, ensuring that appropriate standards are applied and processes are followed, engaging colleagues and users to ensure satisfaction and benefits realisation.

Prepare project initiation documentation, facilitate handover to the project manager and project implementation team and then monitor progress to check that the intended solution approach is being followed, providing ongoing advice to ensure design quality standards are met.

Must have strong system integration and Microsoft technologies experience with ideally experience of working in the Higher Education sector.
