Job description

Are you passionate about working for an organisation that focuses on the community? Our public sector client is looking for a Senior Continuous Improvement Officer to join on a permanent bases. You will be responsible for supporting the development and embedding of a strategy for continuous improvement across the organisation. In this newly created role, you will work with collaboratively with the Performance Analyst to identify areas of under performance and provide support to services in developing KPIs, identifying drivers of poor performance and implementing strategies and measures to monitor improvement and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Continuous Improvement Strategy

  • Assist the Professional Head of Performance Improvement in creating a strategy for embedding a culture of continuous improvement across the organisation.
  • Regularly meet with the Heads of Service or other key stakeholders who are responsible for areas where they are not meeting targets or trajectories to offer support.
  • Act as a "business consultant" for key corporate projects, offering guidance and training on continuous improvement strategies, understanding data and using it to make decisions. This will include looking at ways to improve performance management and improvement.

Training

  • Establish a training strategy to ensure all staff have access to a range of tools and training sessions in order to carry out successful improvement projects in their areas.
  • Develop templates, tools, videos and training packs which will assist services in clearly understanding and creating their key outcomes, drivers, measures and change ideas.

Reporting

  • Develop reporting techniques and reports that enable the organisation to understand the progress of the continuous improvement strategy.
  • Participate in compilation of the reports as part of the performance improvement cycle where continuous improvement is a key part.
  • Participate in responding to internal and external queries relating to continuous improvement.

Experience/Skills:

  • Proven experience of working within a performance or continuous improvement in a large organisation together with a good understanding of the components of an effective performance management framework their links, application and benefits.
  • Demonstrable experience of using improvement methodologies and techniques (e.g. LEAN, Quality Improvement, Agile) to improve organisational performance.
  • Experience developing new training resources using a range of tools and delivery methods suitable for all levels of improvement literacy.
  • Experience using SPC charts and other statistical tools to track improvement.
  • Experience developing KPIs in a complex and changing environment.
  • Excellent writing skills and experience of drafting complex reports for challenging audiences.
  • Good self-management skills with a demonstrable ability to contribute successfully to the improvement of the Performance and Planning team's effectiveness, efficiency and quality of services together with the ability to prioritise workloads to reflect changing demands and resources.
  • Effective communication skills at all levels, including verbal discussion, report writing and adapting the approach to meet the needs of a range of different people and groups together with the ability to work collaboratively to reach solutions.
