Job description
My client, a large consultancy, are looking for an experienced Project Manager on a contract basis initially starting at 6 months with the potential to extend. You will have full accountability and responsibility for managing and delivery of project works on time and to budget. Be responsible for generating and delivering a variety of project work on our customer sites.
Main Responsibilities:
- Identify and generate project opportunities and deliver a lifecycle and variation (capital) project plan.
- Supporting the contract in liaising with key stakeholders on their requirements and explain feasibility of their schemes to become a trusted advisor.
- Work with Estates, Technical support, designers and sub-contractors to define and document scope(s) of work(s).
- Develop and understand the full scope of works in line with the desired project business case and in turn outcome. This is to be within agreed budget requirements and required profit margins.
- Manage, run and draw up tenders on behalf of the customer as required with the supply chain. Carry out full tender analysis of all sub-contractor returns.
- Be the key interface between all internal departments to ensure the smooth delivery of the installation.
- Work within the current CDM legislation and the respective duties to the role assigned.
- Identify, reduce and manage all statutory and commercial risks associated with the project they are leading.
- Ensure detailed look ahead surveys are carried out in preparation for mobilisation.
- Ensure practices and processes are fully embedded in each project.
- Ensure full compliance with project management policies and procedures.
- Manage the day-to-day operational aspects of the project(s) "end to end". Activities to include but not be limited to estimating, business development, surveying, sub-contractor management and site manager duties.
- Ensure customer acceptance is adhered to, in writing and in line with the project plans.
- Mutually agree payment schedules and applications for payment to the benefit of the project and the business.
- Ensures project documents are complete, current and appropriately stored.
- Provide timely monthly reports to the Head of Projects in an agreed format.
Person Specification:
Knowledge
* Up to date knowledge of the construction market
* Fully competent with Project Management methodology
* Full understanding of Construction Health and Safety legislation (CDM 2015).
* Understanding of the difference between mark up and margin.
* Knowledge of contracts such as NEC and JCT formats.
* Technical knowledge of electrical/mechanical installation (Desirable)
* Knowledge of EPC contracts (Desirable)
* Knowledge of working within healthcare environments (Desirable).
Experience
* Minimum of 5 years proven Project Management experience in an M&E or construction environment.
* Knowledge of complex building infrastructure (Desirable)
* Knowledge of FM Contracts (PFI Led desirable).
* Proven experience of running a P&L (Desirable)
* Demonstrable evidence of having managed a team (Desirable)
* Previous experience of operating at senior level (Desirable)
Qualifications
* CDM regulations
* IOSH Managing Safely and/or SMSTS
* Recognised technical qualification in construction, M or E or similar
* Business standard of written and verbal literacy and numeracy
* Recognised qualification in Project Management (Desirable)
* NEBOSH Construction (Desirable)
