£140 - £160 inside IR35 / day per day (PAYE - £122.48 - £139.98)

Location: London OR Edinburgh

Onsite: Minimum 2 days per week

Our client a non-ministerial government department is on the hunt for a Competition Support Officer to join on a 4 month contract. The team will be looking at breaches of competition law and the investigations vary greatly in subject and are generally high-profile, analytically challenging and make a positive difference to the UK economy and society.

You will play an important role as part of multidisciplinary teams carrying out investigations and enforcement action.

The purpose of this role is to:

  • Support the case teams through the life of a case, including the research and investigation stages.
  • Assist with managing the case file and carry out a wide variety of discrete casework tasks efficiently and with regard to legal risks including:
  • Managing the internal and external case files and electronic records
  • Preparing the case file for inspection or disclosure under the relevant legal framework including when relevant assessing documents for confidentiality
  • Provide assistance to on-site investigation teams as a site exhibit officers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Document management (paper and electronic) throughout the life of a case, including: filing, indexing and scanning in accordance with documented procedures.
  • Using an e-discovery platform to code and tag documents and produce indexes.
  • Processing documents for external disclosure in accordance with underlying principles and using electronic redaction software.
  • Working with the case team to determine whether or not information is appropriate for disclosure and the form of disclosure.
  • Liaising with external parties to agree confidential information
  • Using electronic redaction software to ensure the appropriate protection of confidential information.
  • Identify risks and escalate these as appropriate.

You will have exception communication skills, and experience of using organisational systems for case, document or records management with an understanding of the importance and risks associated with the improper use, handling and disclosure of confidential information.
