Category Manager (Waste)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone to join this expanding food based business as a Category Manager (Waste)

Based in Birmingham 1 day a week

Managing a team of 2

Salary 60k plus 6k car allowance and private health care

• Ensure regulatory and legislative requirements are met for individual categories
• Accountable / responsible for delivery of agreed targets and objectives
• Conduct strategic category review with line manager for all sub category areas with a view to achieving savings (surcharge) targets, improving quality and service levels and achieving all other business objectives (e.g. value chain, CSR, innovation)
• Implement long term strategic category plans
• Complete annual budget for categories and then re-forecast against this on a monthly basis
• Be the category expert and first contact for responsible spend areas
• Track commodity pricing information. Market vs contractual position. Use data to support commercial and business objectives
• Manage ongoing supplier relationships at a senior level
• Establish and manage strategic relationships with suppliers, setting and implementing performance targets ensuring these are met and that the strategic relationship is leveraged at a senior level to maximize efficiency's and value
• Supporting and coaching less experienced members of the team as appropriate and deputising for the Head of Procurement where appropriate
• Ownership for cross-category or cross-functional projects that involve supplier-related issues

Experience required:

Procurement experience in the Waste Category

Previous supervisory/ management experience.
