Job description
The Network Engineer will be responsible for the provisioning, deployment, configuration, and administration of many different pieces of network and security-related hardware and software. These include firewalls, routers, switches, various network-monitoring tools, and virtual private networks (VPNs).
Responsibilities:
- Manage the setup, deployment, configuration, and maintenance of a range of network and security hardware and software components, including firewalls, routers, switches, network monitoring tools, and VPNs.
- Design and implement new network solutions, enhance existing networks' efficiency, and ensure smooth operation of network equipment like routers, proxy servers, WAN accelerators, and DNS/DHCP servers.
- Procure network equipment and oversee subcontractors involved in network installation.
- Configure firewalls, routing, and switching to optimize network performance and security.
- Conduct ongoing network monitoring, troubleshoot issues, and update equipment firmware.
- Report network status to stakeholders and analyze security systems for continuous improvement.
- Identify and address network vulnerabilities, report potential threats, and research cost-effective cybersecurity solutions.
- Tailor software, hardware, and internet resources to meet business needs and develop security standards and best practices.
Other Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and support phone hardware and systems, ensuring minimal downtime for telecommunications.
- Supervise data communications equipment installation and attend to help desk tickets for quick issue resolution.
- Monitor network performance, plan for capacity needs, and maintain detailed documentation.
- Stay updated on network security methods, tools, and technologies to protect systems from cyber threats.
- Conduct internal vulnerability scans and support mobile device management.
- Implement disaster recovery systems and enhance network security measures as per company policies and objectives.
Requirements:
- Associate's degree or equivalent with 5+ years of relevant experience, including a strong understanding of routing protocols, TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, and network technologies.
- Proficiency in Cisco networking, wireless technologies, and CCNA/CCNP certification preferred.
- Familiarity with fiber networks, T1 connectivity, and other certifications like CCIE and CCDA are advantageous.
