Management Accountant - 12 month FTC
Location: St Albans
Salary: up to £60,000
Hybrid working: 3 days in the office, 2 at home
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Management Accountant to join a dynamic finance team. This pivotal role is essential in maintaining exceptional financial management and control across our operations. You will be responsible for preparing timely, accurate, and high-quality financial reports, providing critical insights, and supporting a range of stakeholders including the Board.
As a Management Accountant, you will work closely with a diverse range of colleagues from various functional areas within the company and other group entities. This role requires a proactive individual who thrives in a collaborative environment and possesses the flexibility to adapt to evolving business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monthly Management Accounts & Reports: Produce comprehensive management accounts and reports for the business unit, including detailed information for Board presentations.
- Balance Sheet Management: Oversee the company balance sheet, supporting ledgers, and accounting records. Prepare and maintain a detailed monthly balance sheet reconciliation pack.
- Year-End Statutory Accounts: Prepare year-end statutory accounts and liaise with external auditors to support the statutory audit process.
- Tax Returns: Prepare VAT and other tax returns ensuring compliance and accuracy.
- Reporting Systems Improvement: Contribute to the development and enhancement of reporting systems and outputs.
- Financial Controls: Maintain the integrity of financial controls by identifying areas for improvement and proposing effective solutions.
- Forecasting & Business Planning: Support the team with forecasting and business planning activities, providing valuable insights and analysis.
- Cash Management: Assist in improving working capital and cash management practices.
- Ad Hoc Projects: Undertake various ad hoc projects, including data analysis and financial modeling.
- Technical Financial Guidance: Offer technical financial advice and insights to business teams as needed.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in a financial management position.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present complex financial data.
- Proficiency in financial reporting, balance sheet management, and statutory accounts preparation.
- Experience with VAT and other tax return preparation.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing financial issues.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Advanced proficiency in financial software and reporting tools.
