GCP /Java Engineer

We are looking for an experienced GCP/Java Engineer to join our London-based FS client. As a Senior Engineer, you will building secure, scalable, and reliable technology solutions to advance their presence in the global marketplace and serve the risk management needs of customers worldwide. ​ You will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of their systems, collaborating closely with Product Owners, QA, and other teams to create, execute, and automate tests, identify defects, and help speed up time to market. ​

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality software. ​
• Conduct system-wide and some integration testing. ​
• Write application modules and unit tests with minimal guidance. ​
• Perform elementary database modelling and intermediate database tuning. ​
• Identify opportunities for code optimization and provide input for code reviews. ​
• Use design tools to share and communicate design ideas on larger systems. ​
• Contribute to best practices and process enhancements. ​
• Communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders. ​

Role Specific Capabilities:

• Expert Knowledge of the Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Strong knowledge of Java development and best practices, ideally with experience in low-latency applications. ​
• Familiarity with cloud services, especially Dataflow, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, and Kubernetes. ​
• Experience in optimising BigQuery SQL
• Experience with streaming pipeline technologies - ideally Apache Beam. ​
• (Desirable) Experience with CI/CD pipelines like Bamboo, Bitbucket, Jenkins, XLR, Argo, or Terragrunt. ​
• (Desirable) Experience with BI tools like Looker. ​​​​​​​​(Desirable) Basic familiarity with Central Limit Order Book lifecycles
