Job description
My client, a prestigious Financial services business in Reading are currently recruiting for an ambitious Financial reporting accountant on a permanent basis.
Salary: £45,000-£55,000 per annum
Working hours: Monday-Friday (35 hours a week) - Hybrid working (two days a week in the office)
This is a key role in their Financial Reporting team. As an a accountant and working as part of a small & friendly team.
This is a hands-on role with responsibility over month end processes and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the financial result and reporting to the parent group.
This role will be based in their Reading office however, you will be able to work a blend of both home and office each week.
Job duties
- Proficient monthly review of the income statement and balance sheet for the Group
- Essential contributor to the Group wide month end and year end close process to ensure all financial controls and processes are compliant with the Financial Reporting Framework.
- Execute month end activities including the posting of month end journals and completion of HFM schedules
- Supporting with reporting and analysis of the Group numbers to the parent organisation on a monthly and annual basis within tight deadlines.
- Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Take a leading role in the Annual Statutory reporting for the Group and other Group entities.
- Ability to work with the broader business with effective stakeholder management and provide expert advice and guidance
- Be a leader of continuous improvement by being the catalyst of change and process automation.

- Highly reputable with the ability to efficiently persuade at a senior level and handle a variety of different stakeholders
- Solid comprehension of relevant accounting standards and legislation
- Demonstrated experience of preparing IFRS financial statements
- Curious, analytical, and adaptable i.e. solving problems with insufficient information, and questioning the status quo
- Good working knowledge of standard accounting systems, preferably Oracle and HFM and interest in new technology
- Strong Excel knowledge and competence with other Microsoft Office applications such as Word and PowerPoint
- Ability to challenge current practices and discover more efficient solutions
