Event Recap: WomenWiseRise - Elevating Careers and Mastering Dynamics in Technology
Empowering Women in Tech at the WomenWiseRise Event
Last week, Investigo's London office buzzed with enthusiasm as we hosted the WomenWiseRise event, where women leaders in technology, data, and transformation came together to share insights, challenges, and personal career journeys.
Organised by Investigo’s Kalina Tomova, Mariam Naskidashvili, and Natalie Whittlesey, the event united female tech leaders from a range of industries. These inspiring speakers discussed their pathways to leadership and provided invaluable, practical advice on career progression.
WomenWiseRise, as a community, champions mentorship, shared learning, and open conversations to support women navigating careers in tech and data. This event spotlighted inspiring stories from our panellists, each of whom shared their unique perspective on thriving at the C-suite level:
Liz Hughes, Global CIO
Carole Kingsbury, Head of Technology, C&C Group
Nadine Thomson, President, Product Deployment & Operations, Choreograph
Moderated by Natalie Whittlesey, C-Suite Engagement Director at The IN Group, the discussion touched on topics like adaptability, resilience, and the vital role of community.
Highlights from the Panel
Building a Career in Tech
Liz, whose career evolved from data entry to major leadership roles, encouraged attendees to stay "relentlessly curious" and ready to "roll with the punches." Carole echoed this by emphasizing the role of curiosity in her career, saying that her eagerness to tackle the unknown led her from publishing to consulting.
Navigating the C-Suite
Both Liz and Carole discussed the complexities of C-suite roles, with Liz stressing the importance of empowering teams to succeed and Carole candidly sharing insights on overcoming the isolation often felt in high-level roles.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
The importance of DEI was a recurring theme, with Liz urging women to “vocalise what you want” and openly communicate their goals. Carole and Nadine shared their experiences of working in male-dominated fields and how they’ve turned challenges into strengths.
Leadership and Well-being
As the panel wrapped up, attendees asked about handling burnout. Nadine reminded everyone of the need to prioritise, while Carole advised keeping the bigger picture in mind to maintain energy and clarity in decision-making.
Building a Supportive Community
The WomenWiseRise event underscored the invaluable role of communities like WomenWiseRise and its sister group, WomenWiseData. As tech leaders like Liz, Carole, and Nadine shared their journeys, attendees left inspired and equipped with new tools to advance their own careers.
